'Shawqi and Me : Poetry of the Lion'. A selection of poems by the Prince of Poets, Ahmad Shawqi (1868-1932, Egypt), about the heroic King of the Jungle. Famous for his wonderful modern poetry, Shawqi also composed poetic children's stories, told by animals and showing wisdom in the manner of the tales of 'Kalilah wa Dimna' and 'Aseop Fables'. Easy to read and memorize. Shawqi used the Qur'an, and Arabic proverbs and sayings as influences.
