The collection of teachings and writings of the Safa brotherhood, in a 4 volume set. 'Brethren of Purity' was a secret society of Muslim philosophers in Basra, Iraq, in the 8th - 10th century CE. They were the authors of this encyclopedia of sciences, appearing in the 10th century. The identities and ideology of the Brethren is not actually known...their writings were eclectic.
