Author Bio: Dominique Chevallier has long been in the Middle East and North Africa as resident scientist at the French Institute of Archeology in Beirut and the French Institute of Arab Studies in Damascus. He taught at the Graduate School of Arts in Beirut, then from 1964 to 1968, the Faculty of Arts at the University of Tunis. He is now professor emeritus at the Sorbonne.
