"Les Jardins de Lumiere", translated from the French, a novel by the Lebanese author Amin Maalouf. In this novel, Maalouf recreates the life of Mesopotamian, Mani (216-276 CE), who finds himself in conflict with the beliefs of his community as he developed his tolerant Manichaean religion, and who was eventually executed for heresy.
